Turn On The Lights!

Much of Kershaw County sits in darkness today in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew. As many citizens patiently wait for the sweet, sweet hum of electricity to be restored, one common refrain that can be heard from east to west is “Turn on the lights!” We certainly hope you won’t be waiting until December for Thomas Edison’s nifty little inventions to get juiced up, but we do want to take this opportunity to remind you that THE Lights are on the way!!

That’s right folks, the ninth annual installment of Kershaw County’s one and only nighttime parade is coming up on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 6:30 PM.  It’s time to gather up your friends, family, church groups, coworkers, and all the lights you can find to make the best float ever! Find all the details you need under “Participant Forms” at www.lightsoflugoff.com and let’s light up the night!

It’s the Great Parade Charlie Brown!

As Halloween approaches, our thoughts turn to that annual tradition that brings all the boys and girls out to the most sincere Christmas parade around, and that can be the one and only Lights of Lugoff Christmas Parade! On Saturday, December 12, 2015 the Great Parade will rise near the BP station on Highway 1, roll south towards McDonalds, and deliver tons of lights, music, and fun to all the good little children (and grown-ups) who have waited for the Great Parade to appear.

So mark your calendars and invite your friends Sally, Linus, Lucy, and Charlie to come along with you to enjoy the parade. We promise the Great Parade will appear, and you won’t be leaving with a bag full of rocks!

Twas A Great Night!

Twas the night of the lights, and all through our town
Lots of people were watching, with nary a frown.
Slower than turtles, the floats passed us by,
The lights were a-twinkling, a treat for the eye.
Now tractors, now trailers, now trucks and golf carts!
The music and smiles lit up our hearts.
But we all will exclaim as we remember that night –
“We love our Lugoff, and our night of the lights!”

Merry Christmas and congratulations to our 2014 award winners!
